Today I wanted to share this adorable sailboat card that we are making at my Paper Pumpkin Fun night tomorrow evening. Scroll down for the step by step tutorial. If you live near the Minneapolis/St. Paul area I would love to have you join us – just send me an e-mail!.
For this project I used the June Paper Pumpkin kit which comes with stamps, ink, and supplies to make 24 of these adorable pinwheels. I decided to play around and see what else I could create with this fun kit.
I created this sailboat card using just half a pinwheel. So I can make lots of sailboat cards AND still have some left for pinwheels! I love the generous amout of supplies that come in this kit! The kit also had the baker's twine which I used for the mast, the "Celebrate" stamp, the Night of Navy ink spot, and the banners. I cut the banner in half to make the flag on the top of the sail. So let's make a sailboat. If you don't have the pinwheel from the June kit, you can use a 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" square of patterned paper to get the same shapes.
It is already partially cut for the pinwheel – just finish the cut. Set aside that extra half. You will only be working with one half from here on.
Whoops – sorry this photo came out so blurry!
Here is the inside of the card – I just used the leftover piece to add a little interest to the inside of the card.
And the rest of your pieces form the boat!
Now repeat the process with the other two patterns of pinwheels in the kit – and you can brighten up your boat by using contrasting pieces.
Add a little Whisper White and Night of Navy card stock and just like that, you have three awesome sailboat cards!! If you missed out on the June Paper Pumpkin kit, don't worry. Thank you for stopping by today! I hope your summer is sailing along nicely!!
