More spooky, Halloween fun with this Graveyard Gate treat box! The Acetate Card Boxes are in the Holiday Catalog and are made to hold cards and envelopes for gift giving. But, of course, they hold other things too! The box is decorated with the Detailed Gate Thinlits Dies. I have a video tutorial with you and a photo tutorial below which include tips for cutting this extremely detailed die.!
Here is a peek at the back of our box – just quickly decorated with a Halloween greeting and a bat from the Seasonal Tags Framelit dies that I have been playing with all this past week. Check my previous blog posts to see all of the Seasonal Tags Seasonal Chums projects.
My choice of candy was pretty deliberate. I found that dark treats in the box made it hard to see the intricate design of the gate. The contrast of the red wrappers really made the gate stand out. And my teenage son assures me that the spooky red nougat tastes just as good as the regular nougat!
This padlock is cut from Silver Foil paper using the padlock die that comes in the Detailed Gate Thinlits pack.
Here is the Facebook Live video tutorial from my Susan Campfield Facebook Page!
This photo is only to show you how to center the die on the card stock – I put white paper behind so that you could see the detail. See below for cutting instructions. The card stock is 4 1/2" x 5".
For the best cut, use the Magnetic Platform on the bottom, then the Precision Base Plate, then the die with the cutting side UP, then center your card stock on top of the die.
Now take an old, scratched up, curved cutting pad and place it carefully on top of the card stock with the portion that curves downward touching the die. Then crank it through! This will cut most of the detail, I strongly recommend that you turn the die a quarter turn, place it on a different spot on the base plate, and send it through a second time.
This is what the backside looks like (the card stock is still in the die) when it cuts all the way through. A big thank you to Lydia Fielder for tips on how to get the best cut with this die. If your card stock sticks in the die you may want to add a piece of wax paper between the die and the card stock the next time you cut.
Use the Big Shot Die Brush and the paper-piercing tool to get all of the little bits out!
The "Open If You Dare" stamp is from the Graveyard Gate stamp set that is available in a bundle with the dies. I stamped the image on the Wood Textures paper and punched each side with the Ticket Border punch to make it look like a sign.
The gorgeous ribbon on the bottom of the project is the Shimmer Basic Black ribbon – so pretty with the flecks of gold!! Thank you so much for stopping by today! If you would like to see additional Facebook Live Video tutorials please go here to like my Facebook page – thank you so much!
