Stunning In Copper – Merry Little Labels With Year of Cheer

Merry Little Labels Year of Cheer Copper Christmas - 5 (1)

Wow – copper embossing powder is so pretty!  Especially when it is combined with the beautiful Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper! I stamped the Let It Snow image (from the Merry Little Labels Stamp Set) in VersaMark ink, sprinkled on Copper Embossing Powder and then heated it with the heat tool. New to embossing or need a refresher? Check the mini tutorial at the bottom of this post!

I punched the embossed image out with the new Everyday Label Punch (which is available in a bundle with the Merry Little Labels stamp set).  Fellow demonstrator Terri Gaines showed me how the Lots of Label dies perfectly layer with the Everyday Label Punch, so I used the dies to cut a Copper Foil layer to go behind my image and popped it up on Dimensionals.  I added a Silver Foil Snowflake behind the copper because…..well, it does say let it snow – lol!

For the inside greeting I once again used the Peace This Christmas stamp set (just like I did on this other Merry Little Labels card) – it goes great with this image!  I also embossed this in copper.

But what truly makes the card striking is the beautiful Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper!  This card stock weight paper comes in 4 foil designs and you get three 12" x 12" sheets of each pattern.

Of course, this stunning paper is not just for the holiday season. I used the same pattern to create this sympathy card with the Heartfelt Sympathy stamp set. Scroll down for a short tutorial on heat embossing so that you can make lovely shiny images in gold, silver, copper, etc. for your handmade cards!

Start with the embossing buddy.  Lightly rub it all over your card stock that you want to emboss on.  This will remove static from the paper that can cause embossing powder to stick in areas other then the stamped image.

Next, ink up your stamp in VersaMark clear ink and stamp it on to the card stock.  This sticky, wet ink is slow drying so your powder will stick to it until you can melt it with the heat tool.

Sprinkle the embossing powder liberally all over the image.

Make sure that powder is clinging to ALL of the image and dump a lot on!  Then shake off the excess and put it back in the jar.  Make sure you tap off all the powder that is not clinging to the image.

Use the heat tool to melt the powder.  Hold the tip an inch or so away from the paper and slowly move it around the image, when the entire image is shiny (no dark, dull spots), you are done!
