It's graduation time!! My niece, Amelia Seidl, graduated from the University of Iowa last week and inspired me on this card! Iowa Hawkeyes colors are black and gold. Of course, black and gold are great "generic" grad colors for any school – or you could customize the balloon color to match the school colors by using a different ink color to match.
I used the Celebrate Today set with the matching Balloon framelits for the Big Shot – so cute!!
Tip: If you order the bundle you can get both of the items at a discount!
To make the mortar board I cut a strip of Basic Black card stock that was 1" wide. Then I laid it in my Stampin' Trimmer at an angle – so that the edge lined up with the diagonal on the grid boxes printed on the trimmer, and cut it. Then I slid it over an inch and repeated. The tassel is cut from the Gold Foil paper with the tassel framelit from the Balloon Framelits.
Here is my niece Amelia and her parents. Congrats Amelia!! You are awesome!!
TIP: When you are attaching the Gold Foil Vellum to the card base, just use a small piece of adhesive on the back of each gold circle so that it doesn't show through!
