#6 Grapefruit Fun with Lemon Zest – 20 Years, 20 Posts

Grapefruit Goodness with Lemon Zest - 1

Hello!  A little sweet, a little tart, grapefruit anyone?!  Welcome to the 6th post in a series of 20 consecutive blog posts to celebrate my 20th year as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator! I'm excited to share a little trick that I used to create this cute card with the Lemon Zest bundle! I didn't want to have to color on to the stamp with my markers (I wanted a brighter look) so I came up with another way to make my image two tone! Scroll down for the photo tutorial!

Lemon Zest Bundle - 1

I used this fun Lemon Zest / Lemon Builder Punch Bundle to create the card.

To create the grapefruit look I stamped the lemon slice in Flirty Flamingo ink twice.  I cleaned the stamp and on another piece of Whisper White I stamped the image twice using So Saffron ink. I stamped the leaves in Wild Wasabi on a separate scrap.

I used my 1 3/8" Circle punch and punched out both of the centers of the Flirty Flamingo pieces.

Then I took the 1 3/4" Circle Punch and punched out both of the So Saffron slices.

And I adhered the two together to make….grapefruit!!

I used the Lemon Builder Punch to punch out the leaves.

In this view the gold elements show a bit better.  The background is a piece of the Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate which is like a window sheet with a printed pattern on it.  There are 3 patterns – I used the polka dot for this card. To keep the adhesive from showing through the acetate, I first attached all of my grapefruit, leaves, and greeting banner to the acetate with dimensionals. Then on the back of the acetate I put SNAIL adhesive where those pieces were.  So there is no adhesive in the upper left corner of the card or the lower right – but there is plenty in the other areas so all stays put.

Here is a quick peek of the inside of the card. Special thanks to German demonstrator Brigitte Keiling for the inspiration for this card! You can see her beautiful card here.
