Creative Inking Blog Hop: Summer Fun!

Blog Hop Title

Our theme today is Summer. One of the things I love about summer is the rich greens all around. Kicking off your flip flops and running through the cool green grass, staring up at the leafy tops of the trees while laying in the hammock, or simply enjoying the beautiful greens in the garden. So today's project is inspired by all the lush greens of summer.

Stampin' Up Forever Fern

I love this simple card layout and have used it for many different card themes. Just a 3/4" x 4" strip of designer paper bordered by two embossed pieces with a greeting over all. The greeting on this first version is from the Forever Fern stamp set and is perfect for weddings and anniversaries. I have several more version below and a link to a free tutorial to make this set of cards.

One of my favorite "go to" embossing folders in the new catalog is the Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder. It is SO versatile and goes with anything! In this close up shot you can hopefully see the subtle pattern of the embossed portion better – it adds great texture to your card without adding a distracting pattern.

For the inside of this card, I used a greeting from the classic stamp set Woven Heirlooms. The leaves are from the Forever Fern set and the stamp is textured already to add the lights and darks, all you have to do is stamp it!

For this next version I used a different pattern of paper from the pack and changed the greeting to the Thinking of You stamp from the Woven Heirlooms set. By simply changing the greeting you make the card super versatile and it can work for any occasion. The greeting is cut out with a long stitched rectangle die from the Ornate Frames set of dies.

With the Thinking of You sentiment on the front this card becomes a perfect sympathy card. Both of these greetings are once again from the Woven Heirlooms set (I love the versatility of that set).

And one more version with another pattern of paper from the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper pack – love those greens and blues! The die cut embellishment on all of these cards comes from the Forever Flourishing Dies. I die cut some ferns and leaves and them cut them down to fit next to my greeting.
