Horizontal Quadruple Z Fold – A Stunning Fun Fold Card for July Crafternoon

This clever horizontal fun fold is perfect for using up scraps, fun to assemble, and sure to impress.

Looking for a fancy fold card that’s quick to make but looks like a real showstopper? You’re going to love the Horizontal Quadruple Z Fold Card! This unique fancy fold card design makes the most of your scraps of skinny cardstock and patterned paper. In this post, I’m sharing a free video tutorial on how to make the Horizontal Quadruple Z Fold card base, plus photos of six different card ideas! For full details on all 6 cards, check out my purchasable PDF tutorial which includes measurements, instructions, supply lists, and step-by-step photos to walk you through every detail. The 22-page download is packed with helpful tips so that you cards come out perfect.

As always, thank you for making and sending handmade cards β€” you truly are making the world a kinder place, one card at a time.

The cards fold flat and fit in a standard envelope – but they open up for a beautiful display as shown in the photos below!

All six Horizontal Quadruple Z Fold Cards are pictured above. Normally I make 5 versions of the Crafternoon fold – but I was having so much fun with this fold that I just HAD to make a bonus card!

Want to see where this fold started? This horizontal version is a twist on last month’s popular fun fold! If you missed the original Quadruple Z Fold, you can check out the vertical version and all five project samples here:

Let’s take a close look at each of the cards!

Painterly Pears Hello Horizontal Quadruple Z Fold Card

The version features some of the products from the Painterly Pears Suite combined with the Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder. Customers who placed a $50 product order (after rewards credits and before tax & shipping) in my Stampin’ Up! online store in June received a packet in July to create this lovely card alongside me in the video tutorial.

The Horizontal Quadruple Z fold cards are so pretty when they stand for display! The florals in the Painterly Pears Designer Series Paper are simply lovely. The ability to die cut some of the images out of the paper with the matching dies is an added bonus!

When it is laid flat you can see the box shape of the card – it is almost like a shadow box when opened. The Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder added the perfect accent on the inside, without overshadowing the pretty paper on the front.

For this style of card the “inside” message is on the back of the card. I left the back blank so that I can customize it with the appropriate greeting when I’m ready to send it.

The pears on the front make such an elegant and cheerful card.

The card easily flattens to slide into a standard envelope! Finished size for all the Horizontal Quadruple Z Fold cards is 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and they all fit in a standard A2 Envelope.

Autumn Label Me Grateful Horizontal Quadruple Z Fold Card

Autumn is hands down my favorite time of year so I love to make fall themed cards! The Label Me Grateful bundle was perfect, especially when paired with the Country Woods Designer Series Paper. I have step-by-step photos for you in the PDF Tutorial so that you can recreate this card.

On the back, I decided to add another set of the Cherry Cobbler oak leaves and another stem of the copper acorns!

This beautiful sentiment is from the Label Me Grateful bundle as well. Such a pretty font!

I love the “top down” view of the Horizontal Quadruple Z Fold card – this one looks like a wooden crate when it is open.

In this close up photo you can see the Pressed Flower Motif embellishments that I added to the front. I also used the copper paper from the Textured Metallics Specialty Paper – it really made the card look extra fancy!

The Label Me Grateful bundle is not just for autumn – as you can see in the card below!

Are you ready to see more Horizontal Quadruple Z Fold Cards? Here is another card with the Label Me Grateful bundle!

I paired the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder and the Splendid Autumn Designer Series Paper with the Label Me Grateful bundle for this Horizontal Quadruple Z Fold Card!

I put a piece of the pretty patterned paper inside the card behind the Z strips – which gives it even more of a shadow box feel.

For the back of the card I kept it simple with a strip of embossed cardstock. (Love that Sunflower 3D embossing folder)!

The flower centers are the Gold Drusy Embellishments colored with a brown Stampin’ Blend!

Such fantastic dimension on this style of fun fold!

Spooky Sweet Horizontal Quadruple Z Fold Card!

The images in the Spooky Sweet bundle are not spooky at all – they are adorable! The bundle is also part of the Spooky Sweet Suite which includes the Designer Series Paper, the Shimmer Star Foam Stickers and a few other items.. You can see the full suite HERE.

This card was another version with Designer Series Paper behind the Z strips – it helped make the cute puppy stand out more! All the dimensions and measurements are in the step-by-step tutorial.

One of the great features of the Spooky Sweet Designer Series Paper is that it comes with a full sheet of pre-die cut images – like these cute candy corn pieces that I used on the back of the card!

The Frankenstein puppy is SO cute! And I love that he can hold his little Jack-o-lantern if you want him to! (The jack-o-lantern is a separate stamp and die cut.) I colored the puppy with Old Olive, Petunia Pop, and Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends and die cut him out. But for an even faster card you could use the mummy hippo or the bear fairy princess from the pre-die cut pieces in the Spooky Sweet Designer Series Paper.

Tractor & Co Horizontal Quadruple Z Fold Card!

So cute!! This is the Tractor & Co bundle and it is seriously adorable! I HAD to get it because it reminded me so much of the Christmas Tree Farm! The stamp set includes other images so that the set can be used year-round, but I wanted to make a Christmas card with it.

I added the trees to the back of the card and used a sentiment from the A Little Cheer bundle. The font reminds me of Dr. Seuss books!

I used the Birch Wood 3D embossing folder to decorate the card so that the the Z strips would look like boards in a horizontal fence – just like you would have on a farm. The embellishments give it that extra “Christmas-y” feel! By the way, Stampin’ Up! had a hard time keeping these cute Peppermint embellishments in stock last year – make sure to order them early for your Christmas cards this year!

The Tractor & Co stamp set has tractor parts that you can stamp, or you can “build” them with just the die cut pieces. So fun!

Painterly Pears Thank You Horizontal Quadruple Z Fold Card

I love the Painterly Pears suite so much that I just had to make another card with it! This was the project that my direct team members got to make in our virtual team party last week.

Packets for my direct team members ready to go – a labor of love for my wonderful family of Stampfield Stars demonstrators!

The embossing is with the Damask Designs embossing folder on Petal Pink Two-Tone cardstock. Of course, the Two-Tone Cardstock has a white core so you can do the distressing technique with it to expose the white below the top layer. I sent my team members a small sparkly nail file so they could sand off the top layer. I love the soft look you get!

I again left the back plain so I could customize it with an appropriate greeting or message when I send out the card.

What a lovely thank you card to send!

  1. Which one is my favorite? It’s a toss up between the Halloween one; the Tractor one; and the Country Woods one! I think I will make the Country Woods one in my August Stamp Club.. then the Halloween one in my September club..but won’t forget the tractor one, too.
    Thanks for the inspiration!
