Last weekend we had our Women's Spring Renewal event at my church and I was in charge of the service project. We did two projects. One, we sorted hand made birthday, thank you, and sympathy cards for the residents to use at the local nursing home (donated by my wonderful customers and Stampfield Stars demonstrators – thank you all!). The other project was making encouragement cards for the staff at the women's shelter to give to their residents. To make these cards we used some of the March 2014 Paper Pumpkin kits from Stampin' Up!
My Paper Pumpkin is a monthly subscription by mail. Each month you get a wonderful kit on your doorstep with a project. In March, the kit was a set of 8 cards to make – here is a sample of the suggested way of making the cards. The wooden greetings of Thank You and Congrats we great but for this project we needed different sentiments so I changed it up a bit.
I used a variety of upbeat and encouraging greetings from many different stamp sets – including the greeting from Too Kind shown here. We punched out the greetings with the Decorative Label Punch for most of the cards and used the Bitty Butterfly Punch with Calypso Coral card stock for an embellishment.
Not only did each kit come with 8 cards and envelopes, but it included self adhesive gold glimmer dots and lovely gold liners for those envelopes.
Some of the ladies at the event had never done paper crafting before – I thought they did a fabulous job! We ended up with over 30 cards to be used to brighten the day of those who need it most!
