Whee! What a fun day I had playing with my October 2014 Paper Pumpkin Kit, "Sweet As Pie"!! I really do have the best job ever! And since today is Whip-it Wednesday, where we whip out some quick and easy projects, I get to share some of my creations with you! As a special perk to my Paper Pumpkin subscribers, I send out an additional PDF document with a large assortment of exclusive projects (not the projects shown below). The instructions in this month's kit makes these adorable "pie" boxes which are perfect for Thanksgiving – as a hostess gift or a place card – they are fun to make, and even funner to receive! But it is also fun to "think outside the box" (literally) with these kits!
To make this card, I used a Bone Folder to carefully draw a spine down the center of the feather. The kit comes with an exclusive 5 piece stamp set. One of the stamps says "Thankful For You". I covered the word Thankful with a post it note, and inked up just the words For You with the Old Olive Stampin' Spot that comes in the kit. Then I peeled off the post it note and stamped on my card.
Here is a very simple tree card that I made by cutting off the top and bottom of the pie wedge box. I used one of the flaps on the box to cut a "trunk". For the planter I folded the greeting sticker in half over the "trunk" and then angle cut the opposite side to match. I punched a star out of Crushed Curry card stock with the star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack.
I added a greeting with the Merry Everything Bundle (stamp set with matching punch). I used the Old Olive spot that came in the kit and the leftover side of the triangle box, and punched it out.
Even after your kit is used up – you can make cute cards like this one! I used our quick and easy Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes and added the Mossy Meadow ribbon. Can you guess how I made the feathers?!
When you punch out the die cut feathers, you are left with a perfect feather stencil! I used the Old Olive spot from the kit and a Sponge Dauber to make my green feathers.
This card uses the same technique – I just changed the ink colors to Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, and Crushed Curry. The "Happy Thanksgiving" is part of the stamp set from the kit.
