I’m so excited to share this lovely card with you! The fun happens on the inside of the card, but here is a quick view of the front of the card, gorgeous with the Poppy Moments dies and the fun striped pattern from the FREE* Golden Honey Designer Series Paper. No need to add much else, that poppy is a real show stopper!
And the inside of the card – WOW!! So fun! AND super easy too! There is a little trick to getting it to pop out – but it is an easy trick. I have a free PDF tutorial and a video for you today.
You may be wondering where you put the inside message and sign the card. Well, on this card that bit is on the back as you can see in this photo. If you like to write a lot inside the card, you could put the strip of designer series paper up at the top instead (yeah, I pretty much just write “love, Susan” on all my cards!).
In this overhead view you can see how the inside pop out mechanism works, it’s a simple accordion fold to make the center piece pop – the trick is how you adhere it inside the card to keep it up and not flat.
The poppy suite gives you endless possibilities for decorating the inside of the card. I love the floral peek through die that comes in the Poppy Moments die collection – it makes a very elegant panel inside the card and the Peaceful Poppies sequins are the perfect embellishment to the center of the flowers. The Happy Birthday sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set which is bundled with the dies for a 10% savings – yippeee, I love to save!
More of the pretty inside! *The Golden Honey Designer Series Paper on the front of the card is free (while supplies last) with a qualifying order of $50 US before tax and shipping during Sale-a-bration which goes from January 3rd to March 31st, 2020.
The trick to keeping the center up so that it pops out when the card is opened is to line up the edges of the pop up mechanism with the edges of the inside layer pieces, not with the edges of the card base. Watch the video or see the PDF tutorial for clarification!

This fun fold was inspired by Stampin’ Up! Jan Brown from the UK. You can see her version here.
Thank you so much for stopping by today! All of the products used to make this card are shown below. Just click on an image to get additional information about the product. If you love everything in the Poppies Suite (yea, me too!), you can purchase the entire suite with just one item number (and you can earn the Golden Honey Designer Series Paper FREE too and you will also get another free Sale-a-bration item too). In the products below I have the entire suite, and then I have just the dies and the greeting set bundle, or you can select just the dies, you get to choose! Happy creating!

Absolutely love this card. The Poppy Paper is just gorgeous – I’d be in trouble if it was fabric – so paper I will take, particularly when I see such beautiful cards such as this one. The fun fold is great and will certainly be using this with other projects. Thanks for making each step easy to follow!
Great card, Susan…will definitely be trying this one. Would you mind sharing the size of the alternate Honey Bee card shown in the video? It is pretty cute too!
Thanks for the tutorial!
Thank you so much Kimberly! Happy creating!!
Sure! The small version begins with a base that is 3″ x 8″ scored at 4″. Inside Whisper White layers are 2 @ 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″. The inside pop out mechanism is 1″ x 8″ scored at 2″, 4″, and 6″. The four base squares are Basic Black 1 3/4″ x 1 3/4″, the Designer Paper layers on the squares are 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″. The Designer Paper layer on the front is 2″ x 3″. Hope that helps!
I started watching your video but was turned off by your saying hi to some people who were watching, I don’t care who’s watching, just want to learn something new
Thank you for your feedback on this video from three years ago. You are always welcome to fast forward to the part of the video that you wish to see. Happy creating!
