Double Joy Fold Cards: Seven Versions!

The September 2022 Suestampfield Crafternoon Creative Escape creative fun fold card idea is here! Create and share joy with the Double Joy Fold Cards!

Are you looking for new fun fold card ideas? I have seven amazing cards to share with you today! All of these cards are part of the Suestampfield September Crafternoon Creative Escape. Each month I design a fun fold and then make many different designs using that fold. The featured fun fold for September is the Double Joy Fold card and the Freestanding Double Joy Fold card. I have a step by step video for you at the bottom of this post on how to assemble this first version. I also have an option to purchase a detailed step-by-step tutorial bundle for ALL of the projects shown in this blog post. This first version features the beautiful Leaves of Holly Bundle and the Boughs of Holly Designer Series Paper. When you pull on the top folded portion…

The Joy Fold portion extends out to show all the lovely decorated panels and spread lots of Christmas Cheer!

This card was the make & take for the September Suestampfield Crafternoon Creative Escape. Those who placed a $50 order with me in August (before tax and shipping) received a packet in the mail to make this pretty card. Following the video they received the PDF tutorial bundle for all the card designs with dimensions, step by step instructions, photos, and the supply list for the projects. You can view the same video below and learn how to make this version of the card. If you place a qualifying order in my online store this month (October) then I can mail you a packet for our November Crafternoon Creative Escape! No host code is needed!

Holly can be pretty in soft colors too…

For the tutorial bundle, I also made a different version of this same card in less traditional Christmas colors. I once again used the Leaves of Holly bundle, but this time I paired it with the beautiful Texture Chic Designer Series Paper and the Rose Gold Specialty Paper. I hope this inspires you to “think outside the box” so that you can try this same Double Joy Fold Cards with supplies from you craft stash!

On the standard Double Joy Fold Cards the accordion piece serves as a “kickstand” and will allow the card to stand, although the accordion portion does tilt downward. For fully freestanding version see below.

The Rose Gold Specialty Paper comes with foil in matte finish, reflective finish, and iridescent finish. I used the matte finish to showcase the snowflake embossing folder from the Wintry Embossing Folder – stunning! For the berries on the front of the card I paired the reflective Rose Gold (detail part of the berries) with the matte Rose Gold (solid part of the berries). I had so much fun creating these first to cards that I started creating LOTS of versions to share! For each version I created step by step photo tutorials so that you can recreate them easily.

Cards that move! These next Double Joy Fold Cards are completely extended to be completely freestanding and feature dancing creatures!

Making cards that move has been so very fun! At the Stampin’ Up! leadership conference in August I received a swap card by demonstrator Connie Ingram with dancing witch. I adapted Connie’s idea to use with the Gnome dies and shared the process in the Cards That Move: Dancing Gnome video back in early September. That was so much fun that I decided to expand on them for the September Crafternoon! First up is this Dancing Halloween Wizard card! What’s better than one dancing gnome? Three dancing gnomes on a freestanding Double Joy Fold card!

In this 29 second short video you can see how they dance! This project is in the step-by-step Tutorial Bundle. The mechanism that makes them dance is a die from the Candy Cane dies. But in the Tutorial I have a “work around” option for you that uses the nose die from the Gnome dies. I was inspired to try that after it was suggested by some of the viewers. Special thank you to Sabine Wegner from Germany for helping me to figure that out. Thank you Sabine!

I made this version of the Double Joy Fold Card to be fully freestanding so that it could be displayed. So cute! I used the sparkly Metallic & Shimmer Specialty Paper for the hats and the front of the card. The spider and witch hat builder punch are both a part of the Bewitching bundle. The sentiment is from the Best Witches stamp set. How cute is that Glitter Washi Tape as a hat band?! Of course the Gnome dies provided the beard and feet.

Well that was fun! How about another Double Joy Fold Card that moves!! These Dancing Santas are the cutest!

The Gnome Dies and the Sweetest Christmas Designer Series Paper make the cutest Santas!! So, of course, I needed three Santas with three different hats.

In this video, you can see how they dance when jiggled!

The person you send this card to is going to love displaying it over the holiday season! Again, the step by step tutorial for this card is part of the tutorial bundle. But if you just want to learn how to make the Dancing Santa, you can view my Cards That Move: Dancing Gnome video back from early September.

But wait, I have more! Many more Double Joy Fold Cards to share with you!

This pretty version is made with the lovely Snowflake Specialty Vellum, Brightest Glow Bundle and the Twinkling Lights Dies. So lovely! For this card I focused on the beautiful iridescent pattern in the pack (further in this blog post I share a version with the flocked paper from the same pack of Snowflake Specialty Vellum).

This one is a standard Double Joy Fold card. Vellum is beautiful but can be difficult to adhere without the adhesive showing. But in the tutorial bundle I show you step by step how you can easily use Adhesive Sheets for invisible adhesive! Your friends and family are going to love receiving this gorgeous handmade card in the mail from you!

Let’s see what we can create with the flocked vellum! This one is so elegant!

When working with the gorgeous flocked paper from the Snowflake Specialty Vellum you have to pair it with something that is equally gorgeous. The Rose Gold Specialty Paper, the Brightest Glow Bundle and the Twinkling Lights Dies are perfect! And the Rose Gold and White Striped ribbon makes a perfect “tree skirt”.

I used all three of the Rose Gold Specialty Paper for this card. The matte for the embossed snowflakes, the reflective for the tree, and the iridescent is the narrow accent piece behind the inside greeting and the star on top of the tree. How beautiful is the snowflake embossing folder from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders?

This special card was designed for my Stampfield Stars team members who are direct to me. These wonderful people joined my Stampfield Stars family by purchasing the Demonstrator Starter Kit through me. Once they purchase the starter kit they started getting a discount on ALL their future purchases as a demonstrator. My Stampfield Stars team always get the Crafternoon tutorial bundles for free. We also have a virtual and in person gathering every quarter. This is the project that we made for our October gathering. Did you know there is a special joining offer in October?! This month only you can purchase the starter kit and get $155 in product of your choice for just $99 plus tax, no shipping. Shop your kit HERE.

By the way, copper embossing powder from the Metallics Embossing Powders collection is the perfect match with the Rose Gold Specialty Paper!

The Double Joy Fold Card is also perfect for birthday cards year round.

The Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper and the Happiness Abounds bundle makes the BEST birthday cards! And the Double Joy Fold card is the perfect way to show off this lovely paper!

The paper is so beautiful I had to make two different options for the inside of the card. The directions for both options are in the tutorial bundle.
