New Fun Fold: Meet the Curtain Call Card!

The October 2022 Suestampfield Crafternoon Creative Escape fun fold is the easy and unique Curtain Call card!

Are you looking for new and unique fun fold card ideas? I have six amazing cards to share with you today! All of these cards are part of the Suestampfield October Crafternoon Creative Escape. Each month I design a fun fold and then make many different designs using that fold. The featured fun fold for October is the Curtain Call card. I have a step by step video for you at the bottom of this post on how to assemble this first version. I also have an option to purchase a detailed step-by-step tutorial bundle for ALL of the projects shown in this blog post. This first version features the beautiful Joyful Flurry bundle and the Snowflake Vellum – gorgeous! Wondering why this card is called “Curtain Call”?

A Curtain Call is when the cast appears on the stage for applause after a performance

When I created this fun fold card design I asked my Stampfield Stars team members to help me brainstorm names for the fold. We decided that it looked like a “stage” and the center portion that opens is like the “curtain”. So the name “Curtain Call” card seemed appropriate! (Special thanks to team members Sandy Stellenberg and Carol Rosengren for helping to come up with the name). Your friends and family will certainly be applauding your card making skills when you introduce this unique fun fold card to them!

When you lift the “curtain” on the card it reveals the lovely inside message! Many of the snowflakes in the Joyful Flurry bundle cut partial snowflakes like this one. The arms of the snowflake pull away from the card to give you this 3D look. This card was the make & take for the October Suestampfield Crafternoon Creative Escape.

The sides of the card accordion fold in so that it easily fits in a standard envelope. In this overhead view you can see how the card stands. The Silver Specialty Paper is so gorgeous when embossed with the Wintry 3D Embossing Folder, it was the perfect match with the Snowflake Vellum paper! Vellum is beautiful but can be difficult to adhere without the adhesive showing. But in the tutorial bundle I show you step by step how you can easily use Adhesive Sheets for invisible adhesive!

These projects were for my monthly Crafternoon event – I hope you join us next month!

Those who placed a $50 order with me in September (before tax and shipping) received a packet in the mail to make this pretty card. Following the video they received the PDF tutorial bundle for all the card designs with dimensions, step by step instructions, photos, and the supply list for the projects. You can view the same video below and learn how to make this version of the card. If you place a qualifying order in my online store this month (November) then I can mail you a packet for our December Crafternoon Creative Escape! A whole lot of love went into each and every packet! ❤️

When you purchase the Silver Foil Specialty Paper you also get this pretty lavender colored silver – it looks so perfect when matched up to the iridescent Snowflake Vellum! How beautiful is the snowflake embossing folder from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders?

Framed & Festive!

For the tutorial bundle, I made 5 other cards using this same Curtain Call fold. This version is with the beautiful Fitting Florets Designer Series Paper and the Framed & Festive stamp set – paired with Evening Evergreen and Gold Foil.

Here is a peek at the inside of the card. This lovely Fitting Florets Designer Series Paper is only available until January 4th or while supplies last.

There is something so elegant about this deep green – and it is perfect when matched up to gold. The Gold Adhesive-Backed Swirls and the Basic Pearls make perfect elegant final touches. I had so much fun creating these first to cards that I started creating MORE of Curtain Call versions to share! For each version I created step by step photo tutorials so that you can recreate them easily.

Cards that move! These silly gnomes have dressed up in Thanksgiving costume to send good wishes to your loved ones!

Cards that move are so very fun! At the Stampin’ Up! leadership conference in August I received a swap card by demonstrator Connie Ingram with dancing witch. I adapted Connie’s idea to use with the Gnome dies and shared the process in the Cards That Move: Dancing Gnome video back in early September. So I EXTENDED the “curtain” portion of the Curtain Call card to make room for the pilgrim gnome above with his pumpkin, and the gnome with the adorable turkey hat below!

In this 35 second short video you can see how they dance! This project is in the step-by-step Tutorial Bundle. The mechanism that makes them dance is a die from the Candy Cane dies. But in the Tutorial I use the nose die from the Gnome dies. I was inspired to try that after it was suggested by some of the viewers. Special thank you to Sabine Wegner from Germany for helping me to figure that out. Thank you Sabine!

One of the things that I love about the Curtain Call Card is that it is fully freestanding so that it can be displayed. So cute! The sentiment and pumpkin are from the Hello Harvest bundle. Of course the Gnome dies provided the hat, beard and feet. I just “altered” the hat a bit to make it into the pilgrim hat! The He’s The Man Designer Series Paper was the perfect way to decorate the sides.

This silly gnome is proudly wearing his turkey hat! I used the Songbird Builder punch to create the hat. I have a step-by-step photo tutorial of the process in the tutorial bundle.

Next up: a simply gorgeous Curtain Call card with the Nature’s Prints bundle!

The Gray Granite cardstock is so elegant – especially when paired with the Sun Prints Designer Series Paper. The beautiful elements from the Nature’s Prints bundle create an elegant card.

This elegant card is perfect for sympathy, get well, or just to say “You’re on my mind”.

Are you ready for MORE Curtain Call cards? I hope so!

This lovely card was created with the beautiful Framed Florets bundle, the Fitting Florets Designer Series Paper and the Quatrefoil Tile embossing folder. The inside portion was stamped with Polished Pink ink. This card is simple but stunning. You are going to love making it as much as your friends will love receiving it! I walk you through the process step by step in the tutorial.

The card accordion folds on each side so that it fits in a standard Stampin’ Up! medium envelope.

The flower is die cut right from the Fitting Florets Designer Series Paper with the matching die from the Framed Florets bundle. The floral bouquet that can be die cut is in two colors on the paper – both Polished Pink (featured on the card above) and Blushing Bride on the card below. Both are beautiful!

Cute! This Santa Express Curtain Call card hides a gift inside!

When you lift the curtain on this stage, there is a gift card inside! It turns out that the Curtain Call fun fold card is perfect for adding a little pocket inside to for giving a gift card! All of the details for this project are in the tutorial bundle.

The Santa Express Designer Series Paper is adorable – the perfect whimsical way to dress up a gift. The stamps and dies are from the Christmas Banners bundle, the dies and stamps in the set are so versatile for a number of holiday projects.

    • Great question! Actually the sides accordion fold in so that the card fits in a standard Stampin’ Up! medium envelope. When the sides are folded in, the card is 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″. Thank you for your question, I added a couple of photos to the post to show how it folds down.
