New fun fold card! This unique Flying Finch fun fold was from the Suestampfield Crafternoon Creative Escape in March. These lovely freestanding cards spread their wings to stand for display and fold up to slip into an envelope.
Do you enjoy making unique fun fold cards? The Flying Finch Fun Fold Card is sure to wow your friends and family! In this “top down view” you can see that the wings spread out so that the card can stand for display!
It also neatly folds down to a finished size of 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and easily fits into a standard card envelope! I have five versions of this style of card to share with you today. This first version features the beautiful Fancy Flora suite of products from the Stampin’ Up! January – April Mini Catalog. I am seriously in love with the Two-Tone Flora bundle. The two step flowers are so easy and make stunning cards! The Fancy Flora Designer Series Paper makes me feel like an artist – without all of the messy painting – lol. The Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder is perfect with this paper!! To see a short video where I show how to stamp these colors of flowers, check out last night’s video tutorial HERE.

The side “wings” accordion fold up so that the card easily slides into a standard A2 size envelope. I created this new, unique fun fold design for the Suestampfield February Crafternoon Creative Escape. Each month I design a fun fold and then create multiple designs using that fold.
The featured fun fold for March is the Flying Finch Fun Fold. This is a twist on last month’s super popular Flying Seagull Fun Fold card! I have a step by step video for you at the bottom of this post on how to assemble this style of fun fold card. I also have an option to purchase a step-by-step tutorial for the basics of this fun fold design and directions on how to make ALL of the projects shown in this blog post. Why do I call them Flying Finch fun fold cards when there is no bird on any of the designs? In this photo you can see why – right? Can you see the “bird” shape of the card below?! Tweet!
The March Crafternoon Make-N-Take project!
This next design features the beautiful Hello, Irresistible Designer Series Paper and was the make-n-take project for my virtual monthly Crafternoon event. Customers who placed a $50 order (before tax and shipping) in February, received the packet to make this Flying Finch card in March. You can join me for next month’s Crafternoon if you place a qualifying order this month! The Flying Finch Fun Fold cards work particularly well with 6″ x 6″ papers because the front panel is 3″ x 5″. So you can get two cards from one sheet of 6″ x 6″. Or 8 cards from one sheet of 12″x 12″.
The beautiful “For You” dies are from the Love For You dies in the mini catalog. The Love For You dies have double layering dies for all of the words which make them really stand out. My favorite word combos with this set are “For You” and “Love You”. The branch is from the versatile Bough punch in the Annual Catalog. The Hello, Irresistible Designer Series Paper is NOW BACK IN STOCK and available again!!
In the Flying Finch Fun Fold Cards tutorial I give instructions on how to cut a panel for the inside if you want to stamp a message. For this version I just hand wrote a message so I did not add the extra panel.
More fun with the Hello, Irresistible Designer Series Paper!
The Hello, Irresistible Designer Series Paper is SO lovely that I just had to make a second card with it!! This version also features the Something Fancy dies (one of my favorites – I love how they layer!) and the Irresistible Blooms bundle. Unfortunately the Irresistible Blooms dies are temporarily sold out. They are expecting more in stock the week of April 17th. So they should be orderable again around that time. This pretty card was the make-n-take for my direct team members at our virtual and in person gathering in March. Team members always get the Crafternoon tutorials for free.
I love the soft, peaceful greens of this card! It is very soothing and would also make a nice sympathy card. In the tutorial bundle, I walk you through how to make the fun fold base, then I share the step-by-step on how to make all of the different versions. I love the Flying Finch Fun Fold Cards – because the design is so easy to make and versatile. You can decorate it with ANY of the supplies in your craft stash!
Easter Bunny fun! This would also be a darling baby card if you just change out the sentiment.
Cute! This card is perfect for Easter or to welcome a new baby. I used the new Radiating Stitches dies for the bunny layer and the layer behind the bunny. The Country Gingham Designer Series Paper, in addition to Balmy Blue, has Petal Pink. Wouldn’t a pink version of this card be darling?! The bunny is from the Easter Bunny stamp set and I stamped it in Basic Gray ink. The bunny punch is out of stock until May, so the bundle is not an option at this time. But the stamp set is adorable and it is available now. The Cane Weave 3D embossing folder is perfect with the gingham pattern.
In the Flying Finch Tutorial, I also show an option to make this card a money holder. Many of my stamping friends like to gift their grandchildren or children money for holidays. So I added the band of Designer Series Paper on the back to slide in a folded bill or two. Again, this is optional – it makes a super cute card too!
Soft and shimmery perfection with the Around the Bend bundle.
The Around The Bend bundle has some unique and pretty curved dies which make lovely cards! I used the Fine Shimmer Paper to die cut the leaves from the bundle. I love how the dies emboss the leaf details! The Brushstroke Specialty papers on the outside panels are in the Annual Catalog – so pretty!
In the Flying Finch Tutorial I share how to add a stamped panel inside the card – so beautiful with the stamped images from Around the Bend! What a lovely way to show appreciation to a friend when you make and send this special card!
