These fun freestanding cards have a unique cascading pleated edge and are so fun to make! I created the Cascading Pleats Fun Fold Cards for the October Suestampfield Crafternoon Creative Escape.
Say hello to the Cascading Pleats Fun Fold Cards! This first version is made with the gorgeous Christmas Classics bundle and is stunning! When the card is folded flat, the finished size is 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and fits in a standard Stampin’ Up! medium envelope.
When opened, the cascading pleats on the side allow the card to fan out and stand for display. At the bottom of this post there is a video that walks you through how to assemble this style of fun fold card and gives the basic measurements. I also have an option to purchase a step-by-step tutorial with directions on how to make ALL of the projects shown in this blog post. Now let’s take a peek at the inside of this beautiful Christmas Classics card!
I love Christmas songs so this card was perfect!
I love Christmas songs so the beautiful Joyful Designer Series pattern with the golden musical notes pairs perfectly with the song title that is our sentiment on the front of the card. The Christmas Classics stamp set has several other song titles that would work beautifully on this card too.
In the previous photo you saw that the front of the card said “Tiding of Comfort and Joy” and now we have “To you and yours” on the middle panel of the card. The gold leaves are a portion of one of the dies in the Christmas Classics die set. The Merry Melody 3D embossing folder carries through the musical theme from the front of the card.
And last, but by no means least, we have the gorgeous inside of the card! The Basic White panel on the right is the perfect place to write a note and sign the card. The gorgeous frame from Christmas Classics was die cut from the Distressed Gold paper and has a die cut square of a different pattern of the Joyful Specialty Designer Series Paper inside.

Christmas! The sentiments on this Beary Christmas Cascading Pleats card is actually one stamp from the Joy To You stamp set. I just cut each line apart and put one on each section of the card.
This Beary Christmas Designer Series Paper is SO adorable! In this top down photo you can see how the card fans out for display. On the card above I punched out a bear from the designer series paper with the Beary Cute punch. But another option would be to stamp the bear from the Beary Cute stamp set (and his scarf, naturally) so that you would never run out of bears!
Ready for some more Cascading Pleats Fun Fold Cards?
This beautiful Magical Meadow version of the Cascading Pleats Fun Fold card was the make and take for this month’s Crafternoon virtual class. Customers who placed an order of $50 before tax and shipping in September received the packet in October to make this card along with me in the video. The front of the card is embossed with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder. The sentiment and the die cut branches are from the Magical Meadow bundle.
The middle panel is decorated with the beautiful Snowflake Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper – simply stunning! And the “season of sparkle” sentiment from the Magical Meadow stamp set is a perfect match.
The inside of the card is decorated with another embossed panel and a layer blank piece of cardstock to write the sentiment.
The beautiful Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper is also a great choice for the middle panel of the card instead of the Snowflake Magic. Above is shown the front and back of the pine tree pattern and below are both sides of the berry pattern. They all look great!

The Fluffiest Friends bundle makes the cutest cards!! This bundle is currently available to demonstrators during the preorder or can be added as one of the choices when you purchase the demonstrator starter kit. All of the Fluffiest Friends are adorable – but this bunny is so easy to color and it is perfect for birthdays, so I think it is my favorite? In the PDF tutorial I walk you through how to color the bunny, step by step.
The middle panel is decorated with the pretty Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper. The ballon is a die cut from the Fluffiest Friends dies and cut from the Bubble Bath Soft Shimmer Specialty Paper.
This little Fluffiest friend bird is holding the balloon string in his beak! Step by step instructions are in the tutorial. This smaller balloon is also from the Fluffiest Friends dies. How fun would it be to receive this adorable card in the mail??

The inside of the card is also beautiful. The cute rain boots are from the Garden Meadow bundle and the scene is from the Meandering Meadow Designer Series Paper. I suspect this pretty paper will be very popular so I strongly suggest that you purchase it on November 7th in case it goes out of stock!
