This new fun fold is on point! Six lovely Double Arrowhead Fun Fold cards in this post – both vertical and horizontal styles.
New fun fold design! This beautiful Double Arrowhead fun fold design has a unique three panel display – like a bay window – which is formed by the unique side panels that look like an arrowhead from the top. The double arrowhead panels help to create this bay window effect and add a beautiful dimension to the card. The arrowheads are also the perfect “stand” so that the card can be displayed, and they collapse flat so that the cards can fit in a standard envelope. In this blog post I have 6 different designs of the Double Arrowhead Fun Fold card, a video tutorial, and a purchasable PDF tutorial with step-by-step photos and instructions on how to make all the versions, both horizontal and vertical.
The arrowhead panels add a 3D element to your design and they collapse flat to allow the card to slide into the envelope.
Do you see how the two side panels form an arrowhead shape from the top looking down? That’s why I called it the Double Arrowhead fold! This horizontal version of the Double Arrowhead Fun Fold Card was the make and take for the virtual July Crafternoon Creative Escape. Customers who placed a product order of $50 in my Stampin’ Up! online store before tax and shipping in June received the packet in July to make this card along with me in the video tutorial.
The Dashing Designs 3D Embossing Folder adds a great texture to the front of the card without taking anything away from the pretty die cut. I love that the Golden Greenery dies cut out images from the Designer Series Paper.
The virtual make and take packet featured the gorgeous Season of Green & Gold Designer Series Paper, the Greetings of the Season bundle, and the dies from the Golden Greenery bundle. This fun fold is easy to make, and the 3D dimension from the arrowhead panels add a “WOW” factor. This is just one of the three horizontal versions in this tutorial.
The unique gusseted sides of the card are perfect for displaying patterned papers or embossed panels. This not only highlights the gussets, but adds depth to your card design. Adding a piece of pretty patterned paper to the inside of the card really adds a finishing touch.
The Double Arrowhead Fun Fold Cards fit in a standard A2 envelope.
The finished size of the card when closed is 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and it easily fits in an A2 envelope.
The horizontal Changing Leaves Double Arrowhead is a set of three cards!
Wow. The Changing Leaves bundle makes stunning cards! This unique bundle includes a 3D embossing folder along with the stamps and dies – so that you can emboss AND die cut the leaves at the same time! You get a set of 3 different leaves all in one color when you die cut and emboss, so I decided to make this a set of three cards so that I could use up all the pretty leaves. All the details are in the tutorial.
Metallic foils are SO striking when they are embossed! I have different greetings on each of the cards in the tutorial, but you could certainly do them all the same if you wish. These cards are perfect for fall birthday, Thanksgiving, sympathy, and masculine cards.
The leftover leaves from the front made the perfect finishing touch inside the card.
In this “top down” view you can see the wonderful dimension that the arrowhead panels add to the card. I would love to send you a packet and create with you next month for the August Crafternoon!
The Autumn Frosted Forest Double Arrowhead card is simple, but stunning!
This is the first of TWO Double Arrowhead designs that use the Frosted Forest bundle. This bundle comes with an “extra”… a set of masks that I used to create this tree. They are SO easy to use and I have every step for you in the tutorial, and options for you to do the sympathy greeting shown above OR the birthday greeting shown below. Once again the versatile Dashing Designs embossing folder adds great texture without detracting from the main design element.
As you can see below the tree stamp from the Frosted Forest set and the extra layer of Pecan Pie cardstock make the inside of the card extra special.
Another “top down” view of how the horizontal Double Arrowhead card displays.
Would you like to see the vertical versions of the Double Arrowhead fun fold cards?
I had so much fun creating this fold in the horizontal directions, that I just had to try it as a vertical fold! Beautifully simple with the Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper and the Unbounded Love bundle. Perfect! In the step-by-step tutorial I have a section on how to make the bases for both the vertical and horizontal style, and all of the directions for every version.
The measurements that I worked out for the vertical version are different then the horizontal version, but as you can see, the end result gives you the same stunning dimension and stability. All the details for the vertical version are also in the step-by-step tutorial.
So sweet! This is the vertical Sketched Butterflies Full of Life Double Arrowhead Fun Fold Card!
This pretty paper is called Full of Life and it is perfect for creating bright and happy cards. The Sketched Butterflies add some whimsey to the front of the card – I die cut them out of a leftover scrap of the same patterned paper that I used for the front and sides. The Dotted Circles embossing folder adds a lot of fun texture!
Such a cheerful card to send!! This card could be made with many of the patterns in the Full of Life Designer Series Paper, and each card would be uniquely different!
Vertical Blue Christmas Frosted Forest Double Arrowhead fun fold card
ANOTHER card with the awesome Frosted Forest bundle and those amazing masks! Instead of autumn, this time we are going vertical and we are all about Christmas and winter. This blue Christmas themed card is so peaceful and calming! I’m also using the Greetings of the Season bundle once again – beautiful.
The Designer Series Paper is the Countryside Inn which carried over from the last catalog – you only need a tiny amount! One of my favorite things about the Double Arrowhead fold is being able to highlight the unique gussets on the sides of the card with pretty papers or embossed panels.
