This unique card is a combination of a shadow box and pop up card – plus it is a whole lot of fun to make (easy too)!
Every month for my Crafternoon virtual class I design a fun fold card and then show multiple designs of that fun fold. For this month’s virtual class the featured fun fold is the Bandstand Pop Up Card. In this blog post I have 7 different designs of Bandstand Pop Up Cards, a video tutorial, and a purchasable PDF tutorial with step-by-step photos and instructions on how to make all the versions. Below are pictures of all the different versions – including some versions using brand new products that will be coming in January! Of course the card flattens to fit in a standard A2 envelope. Keep reading for the details on each card.
Golden Cake Celebrations Bandstand Pop Up Card
This beautiful card featuring the Cake Celebrations bundle was the project packet for the November Crafternoon. Customers who placed a product order of $50 in my Stampin’ Up! online store before tax and shipping in October received the packet in November to make this card along with me in the video tutorial.
In this top down view you can see the construction of the card – so cool! The shape reminded me of a bandstand which is typically a polygon shape, similar to a gazebo. Bandstands are found in town squares or parks and are used for live band performances. Since the two arms that pop out are bands across the top and bottom of the card, the name seemed fitting. All the details for this card are included in the Bandstand Pop Up Card step-by-step tutorial!
The card easily flattens to fit in the envelope. Finished size for the Bandstand Pop Up Card is 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and it fits in a standard A2 Envelope.
For this style of card you put the “inside” greeting on the back of the card and sign it. Thanks to several people who inspired this fun fold card — Vicky Malin emailed me with a photo of a similar card style that she found on Pinterest asking if I knew the name of the fun fold and how to make it. Then Vicky emailed me back to say that she “found it”! She shared a link with me to Iced Images Framed Half Hexagonal Box Cards. These lovely cards were 6″ x 6″, 8″ x 8″, and 5″ x 7″. With much trial and error, I converted the sizing to make a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card and changed the construction – and so the Bandstand Pop Up was born!
Peaceful Evergreens Bandstand Pop Up Card
Such a “wow” card to send to your family and friends for the holidays! This gorgeous Bandstand Pop Up card features the stunning Season of Elegance Designer Series Paper and the Peaceful Evergreens bundle. Beautiful!
I love the pretty gold accents in the Marbled Elegance Designer Series Paper. The greeting labels on the front of the card are both from the Peaceful Season dies. Such great versatile dies!
Penguin and Snowman fun with the Snowy Scenes Bandstand Pop Up Cards!
Double the fun! These Bandstand Pop Up cards are BOTH from the Snowy Scenes suite of products! So quick and easy to do, because the snow globes are die cut right out of the Designer Series Paper with the Snowy Wonder dies.
The Snowy Wonder dies also cut out other images from the Designer Series Paper – which is how I added the penguin to the back of the card as shown below.
I love having a good “Happy New Year” stamp in my collection – and this one from the Snowy Wonder stamp set is perfect – nice and bold!
Of course, the snowman is equally adorable! I used the So Swirly embossing folder to decorate the front since it looks like swirling snow! The Snowy Wonder dies also cut out snowmen from the Snowy Scenes Designer Paper so I added one to the back of the card!
Storybook Moments Bandstand Pop Up Card
Earlier this week, just days before the Crafternoon class, I received my preorder box of goodies from the upcoming January – April Mini Catalog! Well, of course, I immediately wanted to make some Bandstand Pop Up cards with the new products! In fact, I could not stop! So the next three cards are sneak peeks of upcoming products, or they can be added to the starter kit now. All the details for this pretty card are in the Bandstand Pop Up Card step-by-step tutorial.
This card features the adorable suite of products called “Storybook Moments” and reminds me of the Beatrix Potter books that my mom read to us when we were little. Such warm and happy memories! The big “Happy Birthday” sentiment on the back of the card is from another upcoming stamp set called “With You in Mind”. This stamp set is demonstrator Julie Davison’s million dollar stamp set.
The bunny and the house pattern are from the Storybook Moments Designer Series Paper. The blue plaid is from the Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper that is also part of the suite. The ornate frame is one of three frames in the Storybook Friends bundle.
Beautiful Butterflies Bandstand Pop Up Card
Another sneak peek of new products coming in January! This is the Beautiful Butterflies bundle and the Beautiful Bokeh Designer Series Paper. The embossing folder is part of the bundle and comes with dies to cut out the butterflies. It is gorgeous!!
Such a beautiful and uplifting card to make and send! All the details are in the step-by-step tutorial. The sequins in the center of the butterfly are from the Purple Self-Adhesive Sequins that will be one of the free offerings during Sale-a-bration January 7th – February 28th, 2025.
Wildflower Birthday Bandstand Pop Up Card
And yet another sneak peek of new product coming in January! This Bandstand Pop Up card features the Wildflower Birthday suite of products – simply beautiful! I am in love with the soft pastel colors in the Designer Series Paper. It also has gold elements on many of the patterns.
The sweet tassel dies in this set have so many possibilities – including graduation cards! The sequins on the front of the card are once again from the Purple Self-Adhesive Sequins that will be a free Sale-a-bration choice!
