The Two Tier Eclipse Technique makes such a striking card – and it is really quite simple! Basically you cut out the letters, then cut out additional letters in a dark color to layer behind. I have a video tutorial for you below! If you prefer a photo tutorial you can find the one I did for this card here, in this tutorial that I did for Splitcoaststampers. Scroll down in this post to see a BUNCH of other cards I created using this technique! The full supply list is at the very bottom of this post.
The Delightful Daisy paper is beautiful AND it is ON SALE right now as one of the options for the Buy Three Get One Free Stampin' Up! Sale! Click here to see all of the papers included in the sale. The inside of the card….
…is pretty too! This is a different pattern from the same pack of paper and I used the Stylized Birthday stamp in Night of Navy.
Here is the video tutorial!
Instead of using Designer Paper for this card, I used the stamp images from the adorable Spooky Cat stamp set! I usually prefer to cut out the letters before I stamp – that way I can place the stamped images exactly where I want them to go, put you can stamp first and then cut if you prefer (and if your stamping design is a more random pattern).
Here is the inside of the card, again with Spooky Cat!
More stamping fun with Gourd Goodness. As you can see, you get the best results if the colored layer behind the letters is a dark, contrasting color (Early Espresso used here, Basic Black on the BOO card, and Night of Navy used on the Delightful Daisy card). The word YOU is one of my favorites because it works for so many different occasions.
For this card instead of using the Large Letters Framelits Dies I used a shaped die – specifically the Starlight Thinlits along with the Star of Light stamp set.
The inside of the card. I just love that "spiral of stars" stamp image from the Star of Light stamp set!
You may remember this card that I did back in August. This is an example of using punches for this technique instead of dies. Additional details for this card can be found here – love the cat punch!!
This card shows what the card looks like if you don't cut additional letters in a dark color to layer behind. As does….
…this side by side comparison. The card on the left does not have any red JOY layers behind each letter, just the red card base and the letters popped up on Dimensionals. The card on the right has 2 of each letter in Read Red cut out and glued on to the white letters, then popped up on Dimesionals. Both cards are nice, but you get more of a contrast and the letters jump out more with the extra layers.
Yay! I was honored to be asked by Splitcoaststampers to do a tutorial on the Two Tier Eclipse Technique as part of their Falliday Fest! Click on the photo above to check it out!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Happy paper crafting!!
