Today I have two projects to share with you – both with the same fun, creative layout. One card is my “goodbye” card – it is made with products that are leaving, and the other card is my “hello” card – made with new products that are coming in January! What a year 2020 has been. I think we are all ready to say “goodbye” to this crazy year – although there have been many hidden blessings this year. We’ve been challenged to find new ways to connect and our shared passion for paper crafting and sending cards has helped bring a lot of sunshine in peoples lives. I know many of you have been making and sending cards constantly this year – thank you!
The creative card layout is this fun angle on the Designer Paper. This is a “One Sheet Wonder” Technique. You start with a 6 x 6 square, make 2 cuts and you have 4 unique angled pieces to make 4 cards. I have a video below walking you through this easy card layout! The first version is made with the Gnome For The Holidays set. This adorable gnome is waving farewell because it is retiring – seriously one of the cutest sets we have ever had. Be sure to add it to your collection before it disappears!
Anyone out there love a good sale like I do?! The gorgeous Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper is leaving and on sale! The pretty Winter Snow embossing folder is also retiring and half price while supplies last! I find coloring so relaxing, I used Stampin’ Blends to color my little gnome (see the video or the supply list below for the exact colors I used).
My 2nd card is ready to say “Hello 2021”! As you can see, I used the same fun angle cut (this time it is one the right side of the card. If you cut the paper with the pattern face down, then the angle will fit on the right side, if you cut the paper right side up, the angle will be on the left). I went the fast route on this card and the dragonfly was from Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper so it was colored and ready to go. I just punched it out using the new Dragonflies Punch. When I run out of dragonflies to punch I can stamp my own with the Dragonfly Garden stamp set. The greeting is also from this set – I’m ready to be inspired by 2021!!
Here is the video walking you through this card layout. Can you help me come up for a name for this layout? I was going to call it Trapezoid One Sheet Wonder but one of my clever team members pointed out that a Trapezoid is a 4 sided object with 2 parallel sides! Apparently this shape is called a Trapezium here in the US. However, in the UK a trapezoid does not need to have 2 parallel sides. So…I guess here in the US we can call it the Trapezium One Sheet Wonder and in the UK it could be called Trapezoid One Sheet Wonder?! There, we all learned a bit of geometry in 2020! Lol! This card layout was one of the free project sheets that I send out via email. If you would like free project sheets in your inbox, you can sign up for my newsletter HERE.
