The April 2022 Suestampfield Crafternoon Creative Escape fun fold makes a stunning display – meet the Freestanding Floating Panel Cards!
The Freestanding Floating Panel cards feature a beautiful fun fold design that stands for display. The top panels appear to “float”. When the belly band is removed the panels fan out to reveal the panels behind. This fold turns your one-of-a-kind, beautiful hand made cards into home decor pieces that can be displayed and enjoyed by the recipient. Welcome to the Suestampfield April Crafternoon featured fun fold! Each month I design a fun fold and then make many different designs using that fold. I have a video tutorial showing the basics of the freestanding floating panel cards, and an option to purchase a detailed tutorial bundle for ALL of the projects. This first version features a sneak peek of a gorgeous new suite called Hue of Happiness from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. The products in the catalog will be available to order on May 3rd, 2022.
The card is held closed with a beautifully decorated belly band. The finished card with the belly band measures 4-1/8″ x 5-1/2″ so the finished card easily fits in a standard envelope. In this photo you can see how the floral panels in the front appear to “float”.
I had so much fun creating the first card that I just had to make another! The floating mechanism behind the panels is a folded piece of card stock that allows the panels to fan out for display – stunning! This version uses some of the other colors in this beautiful Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper. The Happiness Abounds Bundle has the most beautiful font. The dies in the bundle also include some really unique dies. Like the die that cuts the spiral edge above and the lacy lattice work on the belly band. The Blossoming Happiness Dies also die cut some of the flowers from the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper.
The cards are just as beautiful when closed!
Are you ready for more Freestanding Floating Panel Cards? This next version features the Symbols of Fortune Suite from the January – June Mini Catalog.
This was the featured project packet for this month’s event. Customers who placed a $50 order with me last month (before tax and shipping) received a make-n-take packet in the mail from me to make this card. They were also invited to watch the video below where I make the project, show them how to assemble it, and I shared the other versions using the same fun fold. Following the class they receive the PDF tutorial bundle for all the card designs with dimensions, step by step instructions, photos, and the supply list for the projects.
This beautiful paper is so peaceful and calming. The Crane of Fortune bundle features the beautiful gingko die and the wonderful sentiments that were used on this card. Would you like to receive a packet from me for the May featured fun fold project? Just place an order in my online store for $50 before tax and shipping and you will be included. No host code required, everyone who places a qualifying order gets a packet. Just wait until you see the May Crafternoon fun fold!!
But wait! I had a LOT more fun creating with this fold. Let’s look at the other projects!
I made three different versions using the Hello Beautiful bundle and the Abstract Beauty 4″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper! The Beautiful Shapes dies in the bundle are so much fun to create with! I also used the Biggest Wish stamp set for the inside message.
So pretty in pink! The floral pattern also has flecks of gold but they are difficult to see in the photo. I used the iridescent rhinestones to add some extra sparkle. So fun!
One of the things that I love about the Abstract Beauty Designer Paper is the wide variety of designs all in one pack. It really allows you create cards that look completely unique and different from one another. I left this one blank inside so that I could add a hand written message.
And one more for the Abstract Beauty Freestanding Floating Panel Cards set! The Beautiful Shapes dies are so versatile.
I sure hope you are not getting tired of the Freestanding Floating Panel Cards! Because I have more…
This card once again features the versatile Abstract Beauty 4″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. I paired it with the Windmill dies for these versions. This one is a bit masculine with the gold stripe on the inside along with the Biggest Wish stamp set once again. You can tuck the belly band in between the panels so it can be displayed.
And this is exactly the same card, but I used a floral pattern from the Abstract Beauty for the inside of the card. The windmill has a brad for the blade portion so that it really spins!
This is the card closed. Isn’t this blue and gold pattern from the Abstract Beauty Designer Series paper lovely?!
This next version has a new twist. This version has DOUBLE floating panels for a real WOW!
This is another sneak peek of products that are coming out in the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog on May 3rd! The suite is called Sun Prints and it includes the Sun Prints Designer Paper, the Nature’s Prints Bundle, and the Fern 3D embossing folder. These gorgeous products deserved something special! So I added second floating panel on top! With the triple panels the card really opens up for a stunning display! All of the details for this card are included in the tutorial bundle, along with all the other cards shown in this blog post.
Even though this version features double floating panels, it still fits in a standard envelope and is the same size as the other versions. These cards are thick because of the floating mechanism behind the panels, so extra postage may be required due to the added thickness.

I also could not find your previous project sheet for scrap layout cards. Love your videos!
The tutorial bundle links and the buy now button have been corrected so it should now work correctly. I am so sorry about the error and any frustration that caused you! Thank you so much for alerting me to the issue! Happy creating!
The tutorial purchase link is not active. I would definitely love to purchase this one.

Oh my! All your cards are so beautiful! How awesome are the “floating panels!” 🙂
Is this card one we will be making in your crafternoon or is this one I need to purchase? Love this card. Also do you have another class, besides the crafternoon?
Hi Mary! This card was from last year, April of 2023. Fortunately the tutorial is available for purchase. I’m looking forward to creating with you at this year’s April Crafternoon – you are going to love the new fold!
