Creative Double Stack Display Cards from March Crafternoon

Double The Fun! Unlock Your Creativity with Five (Actually Nine) Unique Variations and a Step-by-Step Video Tutorial!

In March’s Crafternoon video, we once again dived into the world of fun fold cards… with a twist. Get ready to double the fun with the Double Stack Display Card! These 5 (or should I say 9??) freestanding cards not only visually stunning but there is a “top stack” on the front of the card and an “inside stack” inside the card which provides ample space for your creativity to shine. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, sending well wishes, or simply spreading joy, these self-standing cards are sure to delight recipients of all ages.

Above you can see the “top stack” with the birdhouse and the “inside stack” with the bird. In this blog post I have nine versions of the card to show you and a link to a video tutorial that walks you through the basic card base dimensions and assembly of the Double Stack Display cards. I also have a purchasable PDF tutorial with step-by-step photos and instructions on how to make all the different versions. This first version features some BRAND NEW products that will be available on May 1st in the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.

In this top down view you can see how the card stands.

The unique construction makes the card very stable when on display. And yet it still folds up to fit in a standard envelope. This fold is a twist on the very first Crafternoon that I ever did, in January of 2022. That fold was called the “Freestanding Fun Fold” card and you can check it out HERE.

The top stack completely covers up the inside stack when the card is closed. Say hello to the Country Wood Suite available on May 1st! The suite includes the adorable Birdhouse bundle, a pretty new embossing folder called the Eyelet 3D embossing folder, and the lovely Country Woods Designer Series Paper. What a special birthday greeting to send!

The inside stack features the some of the stamped images from the Country Birdhouse stamp set (I love this greeting!!) and an adorable bird. The Country Lace Designer Series Paper is the perfect finishing touch and is also part of the Country Wood Suite. The bird is SO easy to color with your ink pads – I walk you through how to do it in the step-by-step tutorial.

Are you ready to see another Double Stack Display card?

Wow! If you want to make the Painted Lavender bundle EXTRA stunning just add a layer of the soon-to-be-retired Vellum Basics Specialty Designer Paper under it! Can you see the delicate polka dot pattern of the vellum on the top stack of this Double Stack Display card? It adds a beautiful softness to the card.

On the inside of the card is another pattern from the soon-to-be-retired Vellum Basics Specialty Designer Paper, this pattern is tiny leaves. The sentiments on this card are from the Something Fancy stamp set and they are die cut with the Something Fancy dies. I’m often late for birthdays, so this inside stamp gets a LOT of use in my house! One of my favorite things about the Double Stack Display cards is that the person who receives your beautiful handmade card can then easily put it on display.

Some Baker’s Twine and the Purple Fine Shimmer Gems add a pretty touch to the front stack of the card. The leaves are stamped on the cardstock behind the vellum, I walk you through how to make it in the step-by-step photo tutorial. This design with the Vellum Basics was very much inspired by a swap card that I received from demonstrator Angela Meyer back in January. Angela paired the Painted Lavender with the vellum and I loved the look, so I combined it with this lovely fun fold design.

Once again you can see the double stack and how the inside stack tucks behind the top stack.

The Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper on the left and right side of the card really bring out the purples in the flowers – so pretty.

How about another sneak peek of new products and another, or rather, five more Double Stack Display cards?!

Meet the five new In Colors!! From left to right we have: Pretty In Pink, Peach Pie, Petunia Pop, Summer Splash, and Shy Shamrock. These fun new colors will be available starting May 1st – or you can get them in the Starter Kit now. This version features the Pretty In Pink ink and cardstock. Pretty In Pink is actually a returning color. It was part of the Stampin’ Up! color line from 1997 (my first year as a demonstrator!) to 2013. I’m SO glad that it is back!

The fun patterned paper is the 2024 – 2026 In Color 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. I love the tropical feel of this paper! This pretty paper is also available in Brights, Subtles, Regals, Neutrals, in the 2023 – 2025 In Colors! It is pictured in on page 98 in the new catalog. The gems are the 2024 – 2026 In Color Shimmer Gems – they are so sparkly that they add a fun touch to the card.

Of course, I couldn’t let Pretty In Pink have ALL the fun! So I made the card in Peach Pie, Petunia Pop….

And in Summer Splash and Shy Shamrock too! The stamp set and dies are from another sneak peek, the new Unbounded Love bundle. This greeting set has some wonderful words in it and the dies are full of unique label and frame dies.

These quick and easy cards are fun to make, so you can make an entire stack to cover the upcoming birthdays in your life.

Of course, the Double Stack Display cards are so pretty to put on view!

Another gorgeous Double Stack Display card!

The Magnolia Mood bundle makes stunning cards and is so easy to work with. I love pairing it with the soon-to-be retired, Poetic Expressions Designer Series Paper – especially this Boho Blue pattern.

The two details floral dies from the Magnolia Mood dies are lovely when stacked on top of one another. All the instructions are in the step-by-step tutorial.

The greetings on the top stack “just for you” and the greeting on the inside “Hope your day is a happy one” are both from the So Sincere stamp set.

The Perennial Lavender Double Stack Display card is perfect for many different occasions!

This version of the Double Stack Display card was the make and take for the March Crafternoon virtual class. Customers who placed a product order of $50 in my Stampin’ Up! online store before tax and shipping in February received the packet in March to make this card along with me in the video.

Our make-n-take Double Stack Display Fun Fold card features the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper and the dies are from the Thoughtful Expressions dies. Customers could use any greetings from their stash that fit on the labels – I used the Layering Leaves stamp set.

Another “top down” view shows how the cards stand for display. So, so easy, especially with Designer Series Paper!

And yes, it absolutely fits in a standard envelope!

The finished size of the card is 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ so it fits perfectly into an envelope.
